From churchfamily at metrosda.org Thu Aug 19 07:36:23 2010 From: churchfamily at metrosda.org (Receive general announcements (funeral information, special programs, business meeting reminders) related to church business) Date: Thu, 19 Aug 2010 07:36:23 -0400 Subject: [Churchfamily] Metropolitan Email-gram - August 19 Message-ID: *Dear Church Member,* * * *We wanted to alert you to the following events taking place this weekend.* * * *1. Our August core value is Family Life. Pastor Billingy has preached two powerful sermons already this month: Uncomfortable Nest(Aug 7) and Soar (Aug 14) - take some time to listen to them if you weren't at church those two Sabbaths. The series continues this Sabbath at 11:00 a.m. You really must plan to be there (or watch it live - visit http://www.metrosda.org at 11:15 a.m. on Sabbath and click Sermons) - you and your family will be blessed!* * * *2. Northern Caribbean University benefit concert. As part of the celebration for his 50th birthday, Vilroy McBean and our Adventist Youth department invite you to attend a special concert at 6:30 p.m. on Sabbath afternoon. Courtney Fadlin, **Robert and Jenieve Bailey, **Lorraine Davidson and Caray Sayles are the featured artists. You'll enjoy a variety of musical styles and receive a wonderful blessing! Admission to the concert is free, and a thank offering will be raised; the offering will go toward an educational scholarship at Northern Caribbean University.* * * *3. Annual Church Picnic. It's that time again - let's get together as a church family, and have a good time. Our annual church picnic is this Sunday, August 22 at the Black Hill Regional Park. We'll be meeting at Shelter J. The park is located at 20930 Lake Ridge Dr, Boyds, MD 20841. Use this map - * http://www.montgomeryparks.org/facilities/regional_parks/blackhill/documents/black_hill_regional_map.pdf * - to get directions to Shelter J; it also shows where the parking lots are. Please bring your favorite board game (Scrabble, Monopoly, Snakes and Ladders, etc.). For those of you not interested in the Board Game Challenge, you may choose to play a team sport (football, soccer, volleyball, cricket), or one of the other run 'n jump games. And if none of those interest you, the park provides the following:* **playground equipment for the children* **canoe, kayak, and rowboat rentals* **pontoon boat rides* **horseshoe pits* **hiking/biking trails* **fishing* * * *There must be something there that you can enjoy! Plan to spend the day (bring your own lunch, please!) - the picnic will run from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Take advantage of this opportunity to have a good time with your family - your 'blood' family and your church family.
